BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

Surveyed area was affected by fires in 1996 and 2002, which along with increased disturbance by transportation near gaz line negatively affected reproduction of birds. Broods and juveniles of Sandhill Cranes were not observed, although adult birds were seen regularly. Several broods of Rock Ptarmigans were seen, but they were generally rare. Sea ducks and gulls were common on Gechmytkukul River, while skuas were common in tundra patches unaffected by fires. Four broods of Teals were seen on the flooded sections of the pipeline ditch.
